Ever wonder what comes after asana? Yoga is not just a set of
physical practices, but apart from the physical exercises, what
else is there?
Breathing exercises? Meditation...?
On the afternoon of Sunday May 16, Doctor Gideon Enz will introduce you to the simple
but profound path beyond asana, including topics such as the energetics of pranayama,
how to enjoy meditation, and how to make asanas work for you. This workshop is
meant both for those who have shied away from yoga due to physical
limitations and for those who have thoroughly trodden the asana path.
Whether you are just curious, bored with your current asana practice,
or you feel drawn to explore yoga more fully, this workshop is guaranteed to expand
your understanding of the inner workings of yoga and increase your ability to use this ancient art both on and off the mat.
Building upon the foundation of using posture, breath, and imagery (taught in P1) to heal oneself, this class introduces the student to the essentials of medical qigong treatment. To prepare for this, students will begin by learning intermediate and advanced methods for cultivating their own qi and important techniques for sensing the qi (life-force energy) of others. This class presents two medical qigong treatment protocols and also introduces the student to beginning diagnosis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Focusing on techniques and materials that can be used to enhance the skills learned in the P2 course, P3 dramatically expand the students clinical abilities. This course covers intermediate and advanced material such as five element massage, how to create and use energy balls for healing others, the projection of sound, and using mudras to project energy directly into specific organs and tissue. This class is the third module in the IIMQ Medical Qigong Practitioner program. After taking this course, students who wish to receive a Medical Qigong Practitioner diploma must complete the P4 course, complete 48 hours of documented clinical externship, and refine their clinical skill and pass a final exam in the MQP clinic.
